Death Knight Outland Gear Guide: 64-65
Posted by Aurdon in Death Knight, Guide, tags: Death Knight Gear, Death Knight Gear Guide, Death Knight Outland GearBy now you should be well on your way through Terokkar forest and doing parts of Nagrand. I did Terokkar first (just because I found myself questing there) but the majority of items that you can pick up at 64 are coming from Nagrand. There is a lot in these levels that are overall upgrades but not all are better then items that have been picked up in earlier levels of my guide. To help streamline your gear shopping list, I’m skipping over items that would be sidegrades or downgrades from something you likely already have.
–Level 64–
Weapons – If you’re of the polearm persuasion you can get a Lantresor’s Warblade from completing a quest that both alliance and horde have a version of which revolve around helping out Lantresor of the Blade…go figure. This isn’t as good as a Zangarmarsh claymore or a Hellreaver but if you want to work on your polearm skill go for it.
Cloak – The Delicate Green Poncho and Nomad’s Woven Cloak both come from the same quest and are rated equally on the warrior DPS gear scale. Choose which ever you think looks best on your Death Knight. Congrats, you’ll be wearing this to Northrend.
Hands – You are now big enough to dawn Gauntlets of the Skullsplitter if you were lucky enough to find them on the AH. If not then for now you are stuck with some gloves from perhaps an earlier level.
Helm – Get to Nagrand and start slaughtering clefthoofs in the name of Nesinwary for your Clefthoof Helm. This is another item that your’re likely to storm the shores of Northrend in.
Legs – The Murkblood Avenger’s Legplates are perhaps another one of the last pieces of gear you will pick up for that slot. You get these from finishing Murkblood Leaders… or Ortor My Old Friend…
Rings - If you found a group to run Mana-Tombs you may have been lucky enough to win the roll on a Longstrider’s Loop. This drops off of Nexus-Prince Shaffer. If you can get one its worth it as it should last you for the rest of Outland.
Wrists - Another drop you should be on the look out for is the Nexus-Bracers of Vigor. These are also found in Mana-Tombs and drop off of Nexus-Prince Shaffer. Another great item that will last till Northrend but that’s if you find a group to go. Don’t let it slow your leveling down.
Trinkets – Ogre Mauler’s Badge and Uniting Charm are both trinkets you can now pick up from doing the quests Bleeding Hollow Supply Crates and Corki’s Gone Missing Again! As with most of these items, one is for horde, the other is for alliance.
–Level 65–
Weapons - At level 65 you can finally participate in the Ring of Blood challenges. You can easily do this with 4 other Death Knights but you all have to be aware of taunt rotations to make things smooth. Once the dust settles you can walk away with a Honed Voidaxe and a nice chunk of XP for not much time spent. While there is other weapons you can pick up at this level, I would advise not wasting too much time trying to go out of your way when this mighty fine 2H is so easy to pick up.
Amulets - If you have a good solid group, you might want to swing through Sethekk Halls for quest completion on Brother Against Brother. This will net you the Talon Lord’s Collar.
Rings – The Blessed Signet Ring is now your’s for the taking from killing Terokkarantula (which you can probably solo). You can also pick up Leafbeard Ring from completing a solo chain in Blades Edge that starts with The Truth Unorbed.
Hands – If you haven’t picked up Gauntlets of the Skullsplitter yet you can now sub in the Ogre Defiler’s Handguards or Commander Skyshadow’s Gloves. These both come from the same yet different quests of A Curse Upon Both of Your Clans! and The Bladespire Ogres. One is for Horde and the other Alliance.
Feet - Alliance can now pick up Clocktock’s Jumpers from the quest What Came First, the Drake or the Egg? if they haven’t already found a set of Boots of the Decimator from the Auction House.
Shoulders - Horde can pick up Gor’drek’s Pauldrons from Protecting Our Own, but Alliance have the upper hand by getting Sylvanaar Champion’s Shoulders in the quest Planting the Banner which are slightly better.
Trinkets – Fetish of the Fallen is now something you can equip which comes from killing Exarch Maladaar in the Auchenai Crypts.
Wrists – Fairweather’s Wristguards are going to be your’re last upgrade in the wrist category unless you have the Nexus-Bracers of Vigor which were available since level 64 as an instance boss drop.
Waist - Alliance get yet another lucky break with the ability to pick up a Muscle Toning Belt for completing the quest Ride the Lightning. Horde…you’ve got nothin this level for waist.
Well that’s all of 64-65 Death Knight Outland gear. Next installment we’ll wrap up the final two levels as we get ready to storm the shores of Northrend with Bloody, Frosty, Unholyness.
