LOLret

My guild has killed Saurfang twice in ICC10 (normal, of course… hard is way beyond us). Last night was the guild’s second time, but my first time through. Which was awesome. We also got I’ve Gone and Made a Mess (10) and Boned (10) which was awesome. We’ve really come a long way since our first toddling steps into TOC a couple months ago.

Of course, lots of awesome loot drops in ICC, and we as usual had the kind of weird raid comp that’s common to smaller guilds who don’t have a huge player pool to draw on. So when a DPS two hander dropped and we had no Warriors, no DPS DKs and no Ret Pallies… the thing got pawned off on yours truly.

Now, lets not lie. It’s a truly sweet axe.

It’s just that I don’t do DPS. I’m mainspec holy, offspec holy. Have been for ages. Until last night. When your guild bestows on you an ilvl 251 two hander, it’s a sign from the gods that you must get a ret spec. So I went off to Silvermoon and studied hard with my trainer and came out somewhat stronger, but much less in tune with the light.

I glyphed up, put on the odd mismatched gems I could cut myself (melee DPS gem designs have not been on my priority buy list so far), and Nael and I toddled off to try a heroic.

We landed AN, and off I went… somewhat awkwardly twisting around the backs of things and trying to make sense of ret’s total lack of a comprehensible rotation. FCFS? What’s that… you mean I’m just supposed to use the next thing that comes off cooldown? So I spent so much time staring at my action bars that sometimes I didn’t see that my target had died and I was standing there divine storming into nothingness. But the run progressed and nobody complained… and then I realized why… Nael with his pally tank was pulling over 3k dps, and I, practically naked, wearing half holy gear and half a motley array of ilvl 187 DPS blues, with almost no hit rating and an axe skill of about 110, was pulling 2.8k. Or, as Nael put it, my axe was doing 2.8k, practically by itself. Coincidentally, the next closest DPS was over 1k below me… in my very first DPS heroic…

Anyway, today’s WoWing was dedicated to finally getting that Elder title that’s eluded me through this whole holiday (still not there, but much closer)… tomorrow is sure to find me grinding up some heroics so I can replace the sad sad blues that are my ret set.

Look out Azeroth, I may be the world’s clumsiest pally, but my axe is thirsty for blood!
