I am so pissed atm. Pissed at any freakin nubs I get pugged with, pissed at the LFG too, pissed at the sever, pissed at Halls of Reflection, Pissed at me picking a dps class….I wanna PoM Pyro anything I can target…ARRRRAGGGHGHAHGHGHH!
So I’ve more or less given up on the raid scene. My guild seems to have their core “A Team” and the only way to squeeze into that is to constantly out DPS others in that group. Well I’ve peaked out on what I can do with my current gear. Only way to do better is to get into Raids. Should I pug them? Probably. Do I? Hell noes. I’m in a guild for a reason. If 100% of my game time is playing with non guildies what is the point? I do get into the guild “alt” raids now and then so there is still some hope but until then, I’m at the mercy of the 19 badges a week from the daily’s and weekly badge rewards and if I get an invite to an alt ICC run.
Thats where tonight comes in as being the most unbearable experience in WoW I’ve had for quite some time. And my rage can’t be focused at one single thing and that makes it even more unbearable. Tonights attempts are as follows. Keep in mind that on my battlegroup DPS has to queue for 12-15 minutes before we get a group. I curse my class every time I queue for the daily.
Attempt one: Heroic Halls of Reflection – 0 bosses down. I zone in and see skeletons on the ground. So I start to assess the situation. (There has been at least one wipe and no bosses as of yet are down. This must have caused one dps to leave and thus I have his spot. Maybe his/her dps was bad and they were kicked…no biggie.) Before I take a step the healer leaves….thats not good. (Maybe there was > one wipe and they don’t want to wait it out.) We requeue and someone speaks up “That healer was guilded with the other guy…guess he didn’t want to finish either. (Whew…so he left to play with his friend and not because the group is full of baddies). Two more join up and we start the pull….after a few pulls one of us go down due to the DK tank not getting enough snap aggro (seriously…we were doing nothing to get aggro and neither was the tank) and in the end we wiped on first boss. Then we ask the tank if he can step up the aggro and he started making lame excuses about CD and what not. I pointed out “Yes you have cool downs but you should save one DnD for the start of each of these pulls, then death grip the range that doesn’t run to your DnD” which was tanking 101 I thought. After I get back and rez, the tank is still a ghost. Then a dps leaves, then a healer leaves. THEN THE OTHER DPS RUNS TO THE CENTER TO START THE EVENT AND LEAVES WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE AND I DIE AGAIN! And the tank leaves group. Awesome….30 mins wasted (Queue plus group time) and two repair bills….requeue.
Attempt two: I queue up and wait for what I can only guess is 10-11 mins and a friend whispers “Hey wanna do a daily heroic?”. “Sure”. I drop queue and join up. Awesome…..another 10 mins wasted….requeue.
Attempt three: I’m now grouped with my dps friend and notice he’s already has a guy with us…DK. Tank please? Nope, 3 DPS…yay. 10-12 mins go by. “Well sorry but I’m going to go on this naxx run” Group breaks up ….queue dropped. Awesome…another 10 mins lost..requeue.
Attempt four: Ding! 14 mins in I roll halls of lightning. We chug along and all is going great…get to first boss and everything locks. “You have been disconnected” AHHGGGGGGGGGGGGG %#&^%@#! I launch ventrilo to check on the guild raid and they were knocked off too. Whole server went down and I guess that included my instance server. I try and log back in as soon as I can but its been like 5 mins and I’m no longer in the instance….Awesome 25 mins lost (Queue + pulls + DC time)…requeue. “You can not queue for random dungeons while on random dungeon cooldown” …..are you kidding me? Add another 4 mins onto attempt number 4′s wasted time.
Attempt five: Ding! Instance ready! Halls of Reflection MFer! (no reason why this one should go bad…lets just give it a try shall we?) Who ever started the event either picked the long one or had never been there before. My guess is the latter. By the first wipe, the Shaman healer had died 3x and our warlock was pulling 1k dps. Needless to say we had a rage quit or two that just waterfalled the rest until I was once again alone facing the resting place of Frostmourne. And we have come full circle. ….another 25-30 mins lost (Queue plus wiping on first boss).
So thank you gods of RNG and you crappy pug players….you’ve ruined a good 2h+ of my playtime tonight and the only thing I can do in retaliation is a simple keystroke.

I agree, have had the same experiences, and can't figure out how the dungeons selected tend to be HoR, Occulus, and a few other shitty ones. I've never got Voilet Hold – what's up with that.
Random is not random. I know this for a fact about the tool. I have had two 80's now that didn't run very many instances while leveling and certainly didn't run heroics.
The LFG tool took me to each of the dungeons before I saw a repeat on both characters. I'd bet a prized Kodo that achievements for Northrend Dungeon Hero and Northrend Dungeonmaster sky rocketed the day of the LFG tool being released and not a week later when you might have randomly hit all dungeons.
If the tool is scripted to guide you into those instances, why not force you into ones that people don't often do? Doesn't it feel like you get Halls of Stone alot too? That one is so annoying. Blizzard is practically forcing Occulus down our throats and trying to avoid the gag reflux with a chance at a mount dropping….its silly.
That was almost exactly my experience in the six or so random pugs immediately prior to my ICC incident (from last post). Is it any wonder I didn't feel up to taking on a brand new raid with a group of strangers?
So yeah, I know exactly how you feel. And it is THE SUCKIEST feeling I've gotten from the game.
But seriously, whisper me when you get stuck for a pug. I've got a pocket tank and we can get you an insta-queue for your Frosties… since we both still collect Triumph for alt gear, we do more than one heroic a day and would be more than happy to help out… and any pug baddies who wanna come along for the ride? We can carry em.
You know, that sounds like you need other guild.
… ew
I feel you. On my shaman, I went to get my resto gear which was slowly decaying in my bank when I heard that queues were instant for healers. Although, on my rogue, I’m fucked. So, if you want a healer to make your queues faster, transfer to frostmane and go alliance (If you already aren’t) and add tingle. I’ll heal you anytime, punk.
You are not alone. Much has been posted about these LFG experiences. So many similar experiences. It’s been about 10 days now since this blog was posted. I’ve noticed the LFG has settled down for my lvl 80 mage. I’m no longer getting dumped into HoR every time. Most of the groups I’m getting stay together to complete the instance.
I still see a fair number of tanks leave as soon as they zone in. I don’t get that about tanks. I don’t see that with the other roles, at least as often.
I’m leveling a priest using heirlooms and primarily in LFG instances. I have no problems getting groups, but the experiences in the introductory instances are worthy of Saturday Night Live. I still can’t get over the /oom mage who only uses blizzard on every pull. He lived in a bubble–my bubble to be specific.
For a tank, I got a feral druid who would not change to bear form. He could not hold aggro. He needs to learn the role he chose.
This enraged a dps. The tank responded to the rage by behaving like my house cat. We tried to vote kick him, but I got the message that I had already had already initiated too many vote kicks. I guess one is too many, because it was the first time I had ever initiated a vote kick.
If you level a ‘toon through the new instance, you should have a sense of humor. It really is funny when the hunter misdirects on the healer, the tank pulls adds, the mage ice blocks and that rogue, well never mind the rogue.
I’ve had simlar experiences… unfortunately. Though not*quite* as bad as you.
As far as tanks quitting, I think I know the answer there: “fear”. Not afraid of the instance itself perhaps, but maybe they’re only marginally geared for it, and given the massive number of wipe/fail pugs that go into HoR, they simply don’t want to suffer the cost, and possible rage/humiliation of not doing well/etc.
I have found a possible solution to what instances you get put into: remove a few pieces of gear when you queue, and leave them off until you enter your random. (I try to get my “as seen” gear score down to 3,000) I have started getting UK, UP, HoL and some other lower instances again since I started this. I did get HoR once with this method, but it seems to be helping (ymmv)
Then again, I still dread my daily frost run, and have taken up getting exploration achievements, cooking achievements, fishing achievements, etc just to avoid running the LFG.
