Technically there is more then 100 post here at I Sheep Things because I brought on Rhii who has tossed up a few of her own but this post marks number 100 for myself. I suppose thats a good mile stone to address the public with a look back on a few of my favorite moments and what I see for IST in the future.
I wanted to start a WoW blog back in 07 but failed to actually begin the process till January of 08. After the launch of Blog Azeroth, I felt encouraged to fire this puppy up. The driving force wasn’t to shed warcraft wisdom upon others, but to whine and complain of the many mishaps I encountered in Azeroth in Outlands raiding on a PvP server. That angle had already been covered as well (and done so by the hands of more eloquent writers then myself) . Still I launched in April of 08 with a few simple and short thoughts and posed questions to a very small group of readers. Back then my readership was composed of other WoW Bloggers who likely discovered me through my comments posted on their blogs. I started to hang out on Twitter and wrote up a few post here and there that grabbed the search engine traffic of the times. I started branching out to other websites through the use of Alltop, The Twisted Nether Wiki, and I even the privilege to represent the mage class on one of the WoW Insider Podcasts. Its taken me nearly a year to hit 100 posts. If you’ve read the blog lately you’d know that I don’t post every 3 days. In fact its sometimes more then a week before you see a post from me. Thats just because sometimes Real Life takes its rightful place and I don’t get around to blogging as much. That’s why I decided to take on Rhii to help the speed in which I post here. She also has a very different style then I (meaning her post are enjoyable) so I’m happy she brings that to the blog.
As of now I have about 500 or so visits a day with about 60% of them being loyal readers like yourself. The Natural Search Traffic is still residual from an experiment I did to help share my research into a new speed leveling a Death Knight through Outland. At peek that post brought in 4k hits in a day. Kinda sad how almost all of my site’s natural traffic is not Mage related! But I suppose I painted myself in a corner with my branding efforts. I expect to see more of this over time as I’m likely to cover more then just the Mage’s point of view on WoW. I’m raiding with my Death Knight right now and slowly leveling my Mage. Perhaps by Patch 3.2 I’ll have Aurdon as my main again. Until I start to dump tons and tons of time into my Mage, the posts here are going to be more general but I’ll still be chiming in on all Mage changes that I feel need my chatter. Lets face it…you guys could do without my regurgitation of old news.
I want to do some housecleaning around here. Parts of the blog are quite dated. Expect to see the same frequency of my postings. I’ll try and pick up the pace but there are TONS of great blogs out there that have lots of good stuff to read. I’m not going to clog up your readers with a post “just because its post day”. I never force myself to post because that will just end up with some uninspired trash. I’m going to try and engage you the audience more. Always tell me what you are looking for and what you like best about the site. Use my email as I check that frequently. Heck you can even pick a random post and comment in it because I always watch those as well. I’m trying to get yet another blogger to join up with me to but well see how that turns out. I’m trying out some classes that I don’t have very much experience with so there should be some fun leveling post now and then.
I guess the one thing you should walk away with after reading this is that I’ve had a blast these first 100 posts and I can’t wait to enjoy the next 100. I hope you feel the same. <3
