Whew! Vaneras saves the mage class from deletion!

by on September 23, 2008

Earlier today Vaneras stepped in and put the foot down on what could have been a very ugly move by Blizzard.

An upset mage raised a call to arms on the offical EU forums for the deletion of the class due to our lack of damage.  At the very last moment, right before Blizzard buckled under the overwhelming pressure of a distrought player, Vaneras managed to halt the countdown until mage distruction by a fraction of a second.

Sarcasm aside, I fail to see the point of calling for a ridcilous action on the part of Blizzard such as the deletion of a class.  Lets entertain this request just for a moment.

The very next patch, Blizzard simply rips all mages out of the data files.

  • No more Mages.
  • No more Mage tables.
  • No more reliable CC.
  • No more portals.
  • No more Arcane Int Buffs
  • No more mage tanking Krosh Firehand.
  • No more…reason for me to play the game.

The sad fact of it is, as we sometimes bash the class we play (whatever class that may be), we’d all likely quit if that class were removed from the game.  The game would never feel the same if ANY class were to be removed.  Heck, how many people are up in a craze to get a Amani War Bear before it is removed from the game.  I myself will never part with my Regalia of Undead Cleansing no matter how useless the stats are now for the simple fact of you can never get it again.

I’m thankful for Blizzard giving players a place to voice their opinions on the official boards.  I’m thankful for all blue posters who have to sift through all the bad posts to find the good posts.  And I’m thankful for the next time I log into the game, my Mage Aurdon will still be there.

LMAO! If all these posts and requests were filled, we would have no classes to play in the game, and the world of warcraft would be the world of nothing. I know many times I get frustrated at Blizzard for removing things or nerfing a class, but thats the world we live and play in. We gotta deal with it.

@Daniel Well said. In fact, how funny would it have been for Vaneras to simply come in, reply “Deal with it” and lock the thread LOL!

You think they would do a class transfer… if so, to what?
Would you be able to upgrade to a Lock ;-)

I read that piece.. it was a nice piece of silliness to start my day

I found it really humorous that anyone would even suggest such a thing. I read about this yesterday on WoWBlues, they send me mage updates. I giggled, then I giggled a little more, then I closed the page. People need to stop asking for stupid things like, “Remove my class” or “Remove Gnomes” and start asking for things they really think could be useful to the game.

I have heard people say they should be able to respec their race. lol. I was reminded of this by Gnomeaggedon’s wondering about class transfers. :D

LOL to that….
Remove mages from WoW and you might as well change the game name…or END WoW. If people would take the time to even read up a tad bit of the Lore for WarCraft they can plainly see, the WHOLE point of the game existing is because of mages…. OR Magic in general….

As with any MMO, people concentrate too much on stats, gear and weapons, than the game as a whole. Which in turn is good and bad. More people = more money for Blizzard which = more updates to game content etc…But as i troll various blogs and such, i bore my self to tears reading +(bonus this and that)… Guess since Ultima online to Everquest people seem to forget that its is an M M O R P G. Items are cool to an extent, i feel sorry for the Uber guy/ gal with 10 (pun intended) PC’s, accomplishing all types of in game feats, to what extent….??

I know when i log out, life goes on, and if in game, no matter what coveted items you have your just but 1 out of 1000′s per server. GJ…… People need to get a grip, escpecially the “kids”. This is NOT Xbox , or PS3….

@Veign Yeah people need to realize that even though you think your class is broken…so does everyone think about their own class. It would probably break down as follows:

80% of players say their class needs improvement
09% of players say their class is Working as intended
01% of players admit to their class being overpowered
10% of players play a lock and roll their face on the keyboard.

i know this is an old conversation but, who would want to get rid of mages, let alone any class? if they dont like the class, play a different one. i to play a mage and i loves it :) . i agree, if Blizzard got rid of mages, i would hav probly quit.

na any post here is fair game anytime :)

this was another example of Blizzard Forum extremist. I try and avoid those forums as much as I can but follow any post that a blue replies to…you never know when you'll find a gem like this.
