Decided to give Disqus a whirl today after a quick Twitter buzz about it. Its kinda like commenting on steriods. Durring the install/import process, it looks like Disqus ate some of the comments. So thats why it looks like some people commented with not alot to say
.
Anywho, I backed everything up before giving this a shot and hope to have those comments restored soon. Untill then…feel free to “first post” and “bump” this thread and give Disqus a try!
–EDIT–
Too late…After some debating (See below) Kestrel and I both decided that the Plugin wasn’t ready for “non-sandbox” use. Bascially it broke both of our sites
. It was pretty neat but if it causes part or all of your comments to dissapear, takes away natural comment features, and causes your site not to work in IE…then it has to go. I might take another look at it in the future but for now we’re back to running vanilla, which is not quite so Disqus-ting. ….oh man that was bad.
Thanks to Loronar for pointing out the IE issue.
{ 4 comments… read them below or add one }
First post.
I notice that we really don’t have the option to not import comments to Disqus if we want earlier comments to be visible. Not sure I like that…and what if folks don’t have a Disqus account?
Arghh…and editing comments is gone, for me as well as my readers. Furthermore, non-Disqus comments aren’t showing up. Getting close to hitting Uninstall.
Yeah I’m going to give it a day or two then quite possibly do the same… If your going to “Improve”…never “Take away”
I’m hoping I just haven’t found what I’m looking for yet.
Disqus-ting indeed.
